Detail Center

The detail center is the central switching station interfacing between the 3D model and its derived 2D shop drawings.

The detail center is rendered in the form of a dockable AutoCAD dialog in the Windows Explorer style. From here, the user controls all processes of the 2D drawing generation. From a structured building component overview of the construction to the subsequent modification management during the finishing phase - all program actions and information are handled by the detail center.

The strongest impression of this new powerful technology can be gained when modifying the construction. After the detail center reports any building component modifications to the designer by marking the changed components he or she can then set the update process into motion. If the update is activated while the construction plans are open, one can track all changes to the individual building component views, which are "magically" replaced by the current construction status.

Unopened plans are updated in the background.

It is impossible to describe and discuss all of the many options available through the detail center at this point, but here is a short overview:

  • Clearly organized overview of all building components and their structures in the form of "directories"

  • Distinguishing between the building component function using different symbols (building group, shape, ribs, header plate, gusset plate, etc.)

  • Easy to use due to drag&drop and context-sensitive menus

  • Visual monitoring of the update status between 3D model and shop drawing by using different colors

  • Fully-automatic update of the shop drawings after the 3D model has been changed

  • Access to all details and their drawings directly via the detail center

  • True WYSIWYG – The look of the 2D details can be checked via a preview

  • Selection of up to 12 views per part (top, front, side, cross, free, etc.)

  • Collision-free dimensioning with a large variety of adjustable parameters

  • Quick and easy derivations of shop drawings by optimizing the detail style. Modifications are immediately visible on the building component.

  • Smart details – They have the property of a 3D part; thus, subsequent specifications such as cuts and position flags are generated rapidly.

  • Additional information via context-sensitive menus (right mouse button) for every building component
